We won but we lost
We took it down to the wire...as always.
A field goal in the last minute of the game gave us a big win on a parlay and the Syndicate ended up with a net -$35. We actually turned a profit of $165 on our bets, but with $200 in travel expenses to make the wagers, we ended up slightly in the red.
We got off to a fast start by hitting a parlay for $1,122 early in the game. That put us in the black throughout the game. The Patriots' field goal with just over a minute left to give them a 10-point lead gave us a $913 win on a second parlay.
The defensive battle and 10-3 final score were completely unexpected and we lost 12 of our 16 single proposition bets. Still, we had three close calls that would have given us a healthy profit. Rams QB Jared Goff needed one more pass attempt to cash a $210 ticket. Rams WR Brandin Cooks caught a 24-yard pass late, but we needed a catch of 25 yards for another $210 ticket. And in one of our crossover bets, we could have given up a 52-yard field goal, but the Rams hit one for 53 yards which cost us another $210.
Syndicate shares are calculated on a total pot of $2,874.75. Unless anyone has any objections, we'll hang onto it again for next year.
