New England Patriots February 1, 2015 Seattle Seahawks

Syndicate takes a loss of $907.15, $6.60 per share

It was an up-and-down night in one of the most exciting Super Bowls ever. There wasn't much suspense at the end, but once again, we had fun. Here's a wager-by-wager breakdown.

Parlay Card 1: All three picks were losers. Sacks and Rob Gronkowski's receptions both pushed, and the Patriots' final score was an even number. We selected an odd number for both teams' final scores because in the previous six games, the scores for the two teams have been odd 10 of 12 times. Both teams landed on even this year.

Parlay Card 2: After unexpectedly winning the first leg of this bet when the Patriots got the last possession of the first half with two seconds left, we lost this card when the Seahawks kicked a field goal for the first score of the second half. We missed the third leg when the Seahawks' final score was even.

Parlay Card 3: We just missed hitting a four-team parlay for the second year in a row. The total points were over 48, the first score of the game was a touchdown pass, and we got the third interception when the Patriots intercepted in the final seconds. But we needed the Patriots' score to fall on an even number.

Proposition Parlay 1: After winning the coin toss, neither team came close to scoring in the first 6½ minutes of the game.

Proposition Parlay 2: Tom Brady cooperated by throwing an interception on the Patriots' second possession, but we needed both teams to kick a field goal of at least 33 yards. There was only one field goal in the game and it was from 27 yards.

Proposition Parlay 3: The first play of the game was a 2-yard pass to Gronkowski so this parlay was over early. The shortest TD of the game was from three yards so we missed both legs.

Proposition Parlay 4: This was a winner. Both legs had low odds so the payout isn't big. The Seahawks predictably had the most penalty yards and Brady's first pass was complete. We will collect $262.85 on a $100 wager.

Propositions 1 and 2: This is where we had our biggest surprise of the night due to some confusion on what the bet was supposed to be. We intended to pick a player from each team to score the first touchdown of the game. When Patriots receiver Brandon LaFell scored the first TD, we thought both wagers were losers. But the actual bets were the first player from each team to score a touchdown. So the only wager that was dead was our pick of Gronkowski to score the first TD for the Patriots. When Marshawn Lynch scored the Seahawks' first touchdown, we won $400 on a $100 bet.

Proposition 3: The only made field goal of the game was 27 yards. We needed a 45-yarder.

Proposition 4: Brady's 328 yards passing were more than enough to cover 40.5 more yards than Russell Wilson who finished with 247. We collect $210 on a $100 wager.

Proposition 5: Neither team had a special teams or defensive TD.

Proposition 6: Brady's longest completion of the night was 23 yards. We picked over 36.5.

Proposition 7: Wilson rushed for 17 yards in the second quarter giving us our first win of the game. The pick was over 15.5. We will collect $200 on a $100 bet.

Proposition 8: This was probably the most frustrating wager of the night. We needed Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount to rush the ball 15 times. He had 10 carries in the first half but only got four more the rest of the game leaving us one short.

Proposition 9: The Patriots did not attempt to convert a 4th down.

Proposition 10: We went into the game feeling really good about our three NBA bets. All we needed from the Seahawks on this proposition was a first-half touchdown but it wasn't easy. The Seahawks scored with 2:16 left in the half. We collect $210 on a $110 bet.

Proposition 11: In the pregame update, we mentioned that Brady needed to set a Super Bowl record for completions for us to lose this bet...and he did. His 37 completions were five more than he needed. LeBron James did all he could with 36 points on Saturday. But it wasn't enough.

Proposition 12: No suspense here. There needed to be five made field goals in the game to lose this bet and there was one. Stephen Curry had four 3-point baskets in his game to give us the win. We collect $245 on a $145 bet.

The Syndicate will cash tickets worth a total of $1,527.85. For her trouble, we're giving Brianne Laster, who braved the sports book to make the wagers, $92.85 from the original $2,500 that we put up for this year's Syndicate. We will collect $1,500 or $10.91 per share. The accounts below are updated to include the leftover amounts in your account. If you would like us to send your shares, send us an email with your address and we'll get a check out to you when we collect on the tickets. Otherwise, we'll bank it again and let it ride next year. We hope you had fun again and we'll do it again.
